Wholesale markets in Karachi to remain open despite lockdown restrictions
KARACHI: Despite the lockdown in Karachi and all over Sindh, wholesale markets including Jodia Bazaar of the economic hub of Karachi, Saddar, will not be closed amid lockdown.
Abdul Rauf Ibrahim, president of Wholesale Grocers Association, said that there would be no shortage of commodities and supply to Sindh and the whole country including Karachi would continue.
The grocers association said that Liaquatabad and Water Pumps wholesale markets in Karachi would also not be closed. The association appreciated the decision of the Sindh government to keep the wholesale markets open.
It said that 2.5 million daily wager laborers were not taken care of during the lockdown. The children of the day laborers and the poor will starve to death due to unnecessary restrictions, it added.
