ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has asked Broadsheet, UK-based asset-recovery firm, about who stopped the investigations against Pakistani elites’ money laundering.
In a series of tweets on Wednesday, the prime minister said, “We want complete transparency from Broadsheet on our elites’ money laundering and on who stopped the investigations.”
He said Panama Papers exposed our ruling elites’ corruption and money laundering earlier and now Broadsheet revelations had again exposed the massive scale of our ruling elites’ corruption and money laundering.
“These elites cannot hide behind ‘victimization’ card on these international revelations. These revelations are (only) tip of the iceberg,” he wrote.
Few days ago, Broadsheet had revealed that a relative of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had offered them bribe to abandon the investigation against his foreign assets.
