Amid a controversy that was built up around its new privacy policy, WhatsApp has issued a clarification to its users.
Almost a week ago, the Facebook-owned messaging app, Whatsapp decided to update its terms of service and privacy policy from 8 February 2021. After the announcement, It was believed that the new policy would enable WhatsApp’s parent company – Facebook, to access its users’ data and information.
People on social media responded to the upcoming development asking each other to start using “Telegram” or other messaging apps instead of WhatsApp.
However, recently WhatsApp has clarified its users about the new policy, rejecting the ‘rumors’ about privacy breach.
“We want to be clear that the policy update does not affect the privacy of your messages with friends or family in any way,” the messaging app clarified via notification.
