What should you know about this New Year’s Eve in Karachi?
As 2020 is going to end soon, the authorities have different plans for the city of lights on this New Year’s Eve.
Ariel firing not allowed
Every year multiple people get hurt or sometimes fatalities are reported due to the incidents of aerial firing all over the city. To counter such incidents a ban has been imposed meanwhile the city’s law enforcement forces have come up with a new approach to register a case of attempted murder against individuals involved in aerial firing.
Whatsapp number introduced
The police have also introduced a Whatsapp number (0345-514-2770) encouraging the responsible citizens to report aerial firing events.
The videos of violators can be sent through Whatsapp to report the incident to the police.
No activity after 8 pm
The authorities have also announced that all restaurants and businesses will have to be closed by 8pm in the light of pandemic situation. Previously the closure time was announced to be 5pm but later extended.
No barriers on roads
For the first time in the years, It has been decided that no main roads will be closed for traffic. However the police will be deployed in the city’s roads and streets from 8pm today to 3am tomorrow.
Seaview beach to remain open
In the midst of all these developments, the commissioner Karachi, Navid Ahmed Shaikh has directed the police to keep Seaview beach and its surrounding areas open for public on New Year’s Eve. The public has been strictly advised to follow the COVID-19 SOPs.
