We’re an entertainment platform, not a social network like Facebook: TikTok

In a recent interview Blake Chandlee, TikTok’s president of global business solutions has clarified that, TikTok is not interested in copying Facebook as it is not a social network but an entertainment platform.
Facebook is trying to be like TikTok, but the Chinese video sharing app does not intend to be like its rival social network.
Blake Chandlee, TikTok’s president of global business solutions said, “Facebook is a social platform, they’ve developed all their algorithms on social graphs, that’s their foundation, but our model is not this, we’re an entertainment platform and this is a big difference between the two companies.”
TikTok official’s social graph refers to the data that is collected to track the relationships between individuals.
“Facebook is a social platform and we are an entertainment platform,” he said.
Blake Chandlee has been working at Facebook for 12 years and became a part of TikTok in 2019.
He said that due to his experience working at Facebook, he guesses that the victory in the current war will be of TikTok.
He further said that after the establishment of Google Plus, war rooms were set up in Facebook, but over time it became clear that Google Plus has failed, because the main feature of Google is search.
He added: “I see this again. We at TikTok are very good at entertaining people with cultural values, which is not possible on Facebook until the company completely changes its foundation and I don’t think that’s going to happen.”
