KARACHI: After protracted excruciating hot spell of summer, weather turned pleasant in Karachi on Monday.
Black clouds have overcast the city and some places have received light rain till filing of this report. The Pakistan Meteorological Department had earlier predicted heavy rain and urban flooding in the megalopolis.
The meteorological department has predicted monsoon rains in Sindh including Karachi from July 6 (Monday).
“The monsoon currents are expected to strengthen in Sindh that may generate widespread rain-wind/ thundershowers in Sindh particularly Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Tharparkar, Umarkot, Jamsharo and Dadu from Sunday (night) to Tuesday. Few heavy falls are also expected during the period,” the Pakistan Met Department (PMD) had said.
The met department had also warned of heavy rainfalls which may generate urban flooding in Karachi, Thatta, Badin and Hyderabad on Monday and Tuesday.
All the concerned authorities have been advised to take precautionary measures and remain alert during the forecast periods.
