KARACHI: Law enforcers have recovered weapons and ammunition concealed in an office of the University of Karachi by a group of gangsters allegedly funded by Indian intelligence agency, RAW.
According to details, a raid was carried out on tipoff given by a member of the criminals’ network, Shahid Muttahida. Two pistols, one machine gun, large cache of rounds, a computer and a laptop were recovered from an office of Applied Economics Research Centre.
Sources said anti-state literature, pictures of important installations, maps and cheque books were also recovered from the office.
Security sources said the Federal Investigation Agency had inspected IP address used by the perpetrators and confiscated all the computer data including email record.
The suspects used to get orders from India for saboteur activities. Sources said suspect Abdul Majid had set up the office at Applied Economics Research Center on directive of head of the gang, Shahid Muttahida.
Law enforcers also carried out search operations at homes of Shahid Muttahida, Adil Ansari and Abdul Majid. Sources said the weapons recovered from their possession were used in terrorist activities in the metropolis.
SIU police and FIA have expedited investigation against the network of the RAW gang.
