Spillways were opened at Mangla Dam in Mirpur Azad Kashmir when the water level rose.

One lakh cusecs of water will be released into the Jhelum River from Mangla Dam.

According to Deputy Commissioner Mirpur, 30,000 cusecs of water is being released at present while emergency has been declared in the adjoining settlements along the river.

On Monday, August 24, Irsa reported that for the first time in the last five years, the country’s water reserves had reached 13 million acre-feet.

According to Chairman Federal Flood Commission Ahmed Kamal, melting glaciers is increasing the inflow of water but there is no danger of floods in the country. Temperatures in Skardu have risen dramatically this year.

It should be noted that monsoon rains are continuing across the country while the sixth spell of monsoon is also continuing in Karachi
