Why Designer Maria B is against the Transgender Persons Act?
Famous designer Maria B says that the term “transgender” is misleading our society, there is a difference between transgenders and intersex people.
Recently, the designer appeared in a TV show where she was asked by the host Ahmed Ali Butt why the ‘fake transgenders’ are against her and her views on Transgender Persons Act.
To which the designer said that she has an issue with the word “transgender” because many people pretend to be intersex but in reality, they are not. This act has nothing to do with the “real Khuwajasira community”.
“The term “transgender” refers to a person whose internal understanding of their own gender, or the gender with which they identify, differs from the gender they were born with”, Maria said.
Maria B called the Transgenders Persons Act “a new agenda”. She said that she read the law, and it had nothing to do with intersex and the actual ‘Khuwajasira community’ of Pakistan.
Maria B. also added that her friends, senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, and a motivational speaker, Raja Zia ul Haq, are spreading awareness about the intersex community and their rights.
