As large scale anti-CAA protests reported in India’a capital Delhi, a few internet service providers shut down their services for several hours even a huge traffic jams were reported during morning’s peak hours on Thursday.
The Indian mobile service providers Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio, Idea and Vodafone informed their users that they had stopped internet, SMS and voice call services in many parts of the city. Internet services have also been stopped at India’s busy commercial area of ITO, which has many several newspaper services.
As per Indian government order, services were suspended for locations including walled city areas of north and central districts, Mandi House, Seelampur, Jaffarbad, Mustafabad, Jamia Nagar, Shaheen Bagh and Bawana.

The residents of Delhi were also facing problems with traffic snarls due to the protests.
“Police have placed barricades and are checking vehicles coming from Gurgaon to Delhi due to which the traffic is affected on the stretch,” the Delhi Traffic Police tweeted.
Despite prohibitory orders issued by the Delhi Police, protesters have gathered at Red Fort and Mandhi House.

Police have already detained scores of protesters at the Red Fort and taken away in buses.
