Video purportedly showing snowfall in Makkah is ‘fake’
A doctored clip purportedly showing the first-ever snowfall in Islam’s holiest site Masjid al-Haram has gone viral on social media.
The video quickly went viral on social media platforms without any scrutiny.
Official Twitter handle of two Holy Mosques, Haramain Sharifain quoting the National Meteorological Center informed: “A video clip recently circulated on the social media purportedly showing snowfall in Masjid Al Haram, Makkah is fake.”
Social media users were stunned to see snow in the Grand Mosque and it even became top trend on social platforms.
The clip was likely edited by using some filters of an online mobile application that allows users to alter videos with Artificial Intelligence (AI).
