Arsenal footballer saves teammate Mesut Ozil from knife-wielding attackers
London police are searching for the knife-wielding attackers who attempted to rob Mesut Ozil and ‘Bosnian Hulk’ Sead Kolasinac in the city on Friday.
A surveillance camera video is doing rounds on internet which shows a masked man accosting the Arsenal players in their car near a hotel. Kolašinac lunges himself out of the car in a bid to catch the suspect. Ozil is not clearly visible in the car but is reported to have run inside the hotel for life after the robbers went away.
Mesut Özil is a star German footballer who plays mostly as an attacking midfielder for Arsenal club.
According to the Daily Mail, the incident took place on Thursday evening near a Turkish restaurant. The hotel staff ran to help the Bosnian player as he was fending off the carjack.
Both the footballers are safe, however no arrest could so far been made into the incident.
The Daily Mail quoting an onlooker reported that “Ozil looked absolutely terrified, as anybody would after being chased by men with knives.
“He looked like he was running for his life. And I suppose he was. I saw him disappear into the restaurant with the motorcycle guys on his tail.”
A spokesperson for the Premier League club confirmed the incident saying that the club was in contact with its players and both were doing fine. The duo had recently arrived in London after finishing the US tour.
Ozil has retired from international game after playing 92 times for Germany. His retirement came about after German media and football federation president criticized him for his Turkish roots.
While, Kolašinac has represented Arsenal 72 times in the last two seasons. He’s known for his tough defending.
