Victims of the Baldia factory tragedy awaits court verdict

KARACHI: Eight years have passed since the Baldia factory tragedy but the victims are still awaiting the court verdict. 260 people were burnt alive in a horrific fire at a garment factory in Baldia Town.

Ali Enterprises, a garment factory on Hub River Road in Baldia Town, was set on fire on September 11, 2012, for non-payment of excise duty, as a result of which 260 workers were burnt alive.

Raees Ahmed, a 27-year-old resident of Baldia Town Gujrat Colony, who was married for only four months, was also killed in the tragedy. Raees Ahmed went to the factory at 9 am as usual but could not return.

Talking to Express, Rasheed Ahmad, elder brother of the deceased, said that the scenes of seeing his brother burning alive still revolve before my eyes. He could not do anything to save him.
