Utility stores across Pakistan shut down at advent of Ramadan

ISLAMABAD: All Pakistan Workers Union (APWU) has shut down the utility stores across Pakistan at the advent of Ramadan ul Mubarak until fulfillment of their demands.
President APWU Arif Shah said utility stores all over the country would remain closed till fulfillment of their demands. He said the government had announced to give additional allowance to the utility workers for working during the coronavirus pandemic as well as protective kits, which had not materialized yet.
He asked Prime Minister Imran Khan to order for immediate redressal of their issues. He said the decision to observe strike was taken by all the unions of utility store workers of Pakistan with complete consensus.
The President APWU said utility stores management and board were deliberately creating troubles for the government.

He said that they were closing the utility stores in protests for indefinite period of time. He said talks between authorities of utility stores and workers unions had failed.
