US diplomat Alice Wells to meet Pakistan leadership today

ISLAMABAD: US Senior Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Alice Wells is set to hold meetings with senior officials in Islamabad on Monday.
Details say the US diplomat will talk to Pakistani leadership regarding matters of mutual interest and regional security.
Alice Wells will stay in Islamabad from January 19 to January 22. Her tour through Pakistan is part of a 10-day regional visit.
Before the Pakistan tour the US envoy had also visited Sri Lanka and India.
The US State Department has anticipated that this visit will strengthen relations with Pakistan.
The US department had previously expressed concern about the arrests of political leaders and citizens, as well as the suspension of communications in occupied Kashmir
US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Alice Wells said, “We look forward to a return to normalcy in the valley.”
The US is closely following the diplomats’ trip to Jammu and Kashmir, she added.
