Few days ago, pictures of the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan were doing rounds on social media, one of which showed US military personnel sitting and feasting at Panahgah, a shelter home in Pakistan.
Ahead of the US deadline of August 31 to leave Afghanistan, US troops had taken refuge in Pakistan and were staying at hotels in Islamabad.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Senator Faisal Javed had clarified about the photo of US troops feasting at Panahgah by sharing the original picture and the morphed one. He said, “This picture is fake, please don’t make the shelter home ‘Ahsaas Panahgah’ controversial.”
Citing a verse from the Quran, he had asked people not to spread rumours. He asked them to first investigate the report and then share it.
Remember that the United States, along with its allies, has left Afghanistan after 20 years. The United States had completed the evacuation a day before the due date and the last three American planes had also departed from Hamid Karzai Airport on August 30.
Meanwhile, withdrawal of the United Kingdom from Afghanistan had been completed few days ago, but crucial documents had fallen into the hands of the Taliban.
According to a foreign news agency, the UK also closed its social media account as soon as the withdrawal from Afghanistan was completed. Important files left during the evacuation of the British embassy fell into the hands of the Taliban.
