US announces $15 million humanitarian aid for Palestinians

The United States has announced to send 15 million dollars in humanitarian aid related to COVID-19 for Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and Gaza.
“The package will be the first such funds transferred under the Biden administration,” US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield said in an address to the UN Security Council’s monthly briefing on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in New York.
She said the aid would support emergency food assistance programming to communities facing food insecurity, which has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
On the other hand, the World Health Organization has called for countries and companies worldwide to immediately share 10 million doses of Coronavirus vaccines with the United Nations-backed COVAX scheme to deliver jabs to poorer nations.
The WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that 15 days were left to make sure that the 36 countries that had yet to administer a single dose would be able to start immunizing.
