Urdu’s greatest wordsmith celebrates 86th birthday today

Gulzar has given Urdu a whole other jargon to cherish and live with. The man who started his excursion with Mera Gora Rang Lei Le (Bandini, 1963) keeps on beguiling a great many ages with his splendor just about six decades later.
Gulzar had once expressed that the reason he stays relevant after decades of writing by feeling the pulse of the nation. Its was his passion of literature a recipient of many prestigious awards and honours including Padma Bhushan awardee. He has been honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and the Sahitya Akademi Award. He also won a Grammy, Oscar for his song, Jai Ho for Slumdog Millionaire. It doesn’t end here, the maestro also has five National Film Awards and 21 Filmfare Awards to his credit.
