Upper Dir Deputy Commissioner tells what precautionary measures tourists should adopt during snowfall

UPPER DIR: Deputy Commissioner Upper Dir Khalid Iqbal Khattak in a video message has told tourists to adopt a number of precautionary measures to avoid any trouble during snowfall in the northern areas.
He issued this statement after a road accident in Malam Jabba. He said he himself checked roads everyday so that tourists do not face trouble.
“Tourists should tie iron chains to the tires of their vehicle to avoid slipping. They should keep additional fuel after filling their vehicle’s tank as well as food with them,” he said.
Khalid Iqbal Khattak said additional police force had been posted on roads for assisting the tourists and maintaining law and order situation. He said machinery was present all the time for clearance of roads.

He asked tourists to must visit Kumrat, Loweri Tunnel and other areas. He said all the roads had been cleared, hence travelers would face no issue and would find the local administration alert to provide them facilities.
Situation has turned risky for travelers in Malam Jabba as vehicles have started slipping from tracks after snowfall piled up to 10 inches in the Swat’s picturesque area.
A Land Cruiser Prado had fallen off the track while travelling on the snow without adopting precautionary measures.
Baltistan Division, Azad Kashmir, Marri, Kalam and Shangla also received heavy snowfall, which has affected road network in the areas. While, different cities including Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Lahore experienced cloudburst.
