Asim Abbasi, director of the critically-acclaimed film Cake, is releasing a second project and it’s all the buzz right now.
The director released a poster of Churails, a sneak peak of the web series which is slated to release in 2020.
“Hojayein tayaar, khwateen aur hazraat. Especially hazraat. Jald aarahi hain kuch rangeen churailein, aapki deep-rooted misogyny ki band bajaanay [Get ready ladies and gentlemen, especially gentlemen. Some colourful witches are coming soon to bash your deep-rooted misogyny],” he wrote on Facebook.
Many celebrities re-shared the poster on their social media accounts.
Abbasi shared the struggles of making this project in an Instagram post:
“500+ script pages, 150+ locations, 100+ characters, 75+ days of principal photography. And finally it’s a wrap!” he wrote.
“Thank you to everyone who was a part of this insane journey – a journey that broke all of us into a million little pieces, physically, mentally and emotionally. I don’t know if the blood, sweat and tears will show on screen or if the end result will be what we had hoped it would be or if our audiences are even ready for this narrative.”
The director also said that hundreds of people have worked tirelessly to help make the film and he is grateful to all of them.
“Every female character in this series will be shamelessly unapologetic. Just like the Good Lord intended.”
More details are yet to be revealed.
