ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday said uniform syllabus was indispensable to become one nation and so that everybody got equal chances to progress and flourish.
“We have to make effort in this regard very cautiously as it may take time because Muslims were very systematically destroyed,” Imran Khan said while addressing a ceremony regarding prize distribution among students of medressahs in Islamabad.
He said before the Britishers invaded the sub-continent, Delhi’s top medressah’s standard was equal to Cambridge and Oxford universities. After that they systematically stole the educational system from us, he maintained. “English had taken control of the funds provided for Islamic education.”
The prime minister said the educational system made by Englishmen divided us in different classes.

He said his party had already decided to introduce uniform curriculum.
“When we came into power we had decided that three different syllabus cannot go along in one country. We have observed that people of medressah are not given chance to come to the fore,” he said.
PM Imran said Islam taught us humanity along science. The same Islam taught us to save the humanity, it did not teach us to mint money from education, he added.
“Only deen tells us what’s the purpose of life, which is not taught by science,” he said. He said the government had decided that our children of medressah should learn Islam as well as other subjects so that they could choose any field of their choice.
He supported his statement with example of poet of the east, Mohammad Iqbal. He said Iqbal could compare the western world with eastern world and could compare weaknesses and strengths of Islam and the west after gaining knowledge of both.
“Muslims were left behind after they were robbed of education,” he said.
Imran Khan called attention towards the ongoing situation of the Muslims in the world and said it was because of lack of education.
“Now Turkey, Pakistan and Malaysia have decided to launch a channel like Al-Jazeera and BBC so that we could portray the real image of Muslims. We will also produce films and series to show how our great heroes lived and about their great achievements.
“We should teach children about our glorious history,” he said.
