On coronavirus situation he said members from his own cabinet believed that we should have placed lockdown. From the first day our government had no confusion on lockdown issue, he said adding that there’s no difference in his statements from the beginning on this issue.

“If you have an economy like Singapore than you can impose strict curfew. Lockdown was imposed in Brazil after 50,000 people had died of covid-19. Every country has to see its own circumstances to deal with the pandemic,” he said.

The PM said we placed lockdown with arrival of 26 cases while there was no central planning on it. 34 percent of Indian population plunged into poverty following placing lockdown in the country, he relayed.

“We have to protect our ailing, old and weak people from this disease. If we took extra care in this situation, then our health care system would cope with it, otherwise it would become a great challenge. We introduced smart lockdown,” he said.

The prime minister said that Corona invaded along locusts in Pakistan which deteriorated the situation. There were industries which would not be able to revive following that,” he added.

“The world economy faced 12 trillion dollars loss due to COVID-19. England’s economy has slumped by 20 percent,” Imran Khan said.

He said his government started with 20 bn dollar current account deficit, the largest in Pakistani history. “If you have CAD it means that your economy is ill. We have to work under the circumstances we inherited. Largest chunk of our tax collection goes into paying debt of the previous governments,” he said.

Imran Khan said his government sought loan from the friendly countries for they were at the stage of defaulting. He said our CAD had been cut to 3bn dollars from 20 bn dollars now.
