Unidentified group attacks Hindu temple in Bhong Sharif

A Hindu temple, Ganesh, in Bhong Sharif was vandalised by some unidentified people, on Wednesday.

Locals, including children were pelting stones at statues and breaking furniture of the temple, revealed a video of the incident.

According to the sources, the attack came after a nine-year old Hindu boy, who allegedly urinated in a local seminary, was granted bail by a local court on Wednesday. The boy was believed to be mentally handicapped.

Last month, a local cleric filed a blasphemy case under Section 295A against an unidentified person for desecrating a madrasa.

The cleric, Hafiz Muhammad Ibrahim, a deputy imam stated “I saw a kid peeing on the carpet of the library of the madrasa. He entered from a broken window. He escaped when I tried to catch him. He had touched the cupboard with filth.”

However,  Prime Minister Imran Khan’s special representative on religious harmony, Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi has directed authorities to take a stern action against the incident.

He further revealed that instructions have been issued from the office of the premier to the local and provincial administration.
