 UN expresses concern over rise of food insecurity in Syria

The United Nations has expressed grave concern over the rapidly increasing food insecurity in Syria as more than 11 million people are in need of aid.

Deputy UN Secretary-General Farhan Haq spokesman said in a statement that humanitarian organizations, including the UN’s World Food Programme, tackle needs on a global scale.

In the last few weeks, food prices have soared with the informal exchange rate deteriorating rapidly.
