ISLAMABAD: Saudi Arabian authorities have released ultra high resolution photos of the Hajr-e-Aswad (sacred Black Stone) of the Ka’aba in Makkah.
An official Twitter handle of Saudi Arabia, Harmain Info revealed technical information about the shooting of the images which took seven hours.
1,050 Fox Stack Panorama photos of 49,000 megapixels were captured. It took more than 50 working hours to process the photos.
Harmain Info said the Black Stone is the starting and ending point of the circumambulation. It is oval shaped and its color is reddish black, while its diameter is no more than 30 centimeter. It comprises of 8 small rocks and is molded with Arabic frankincense. The stone from Jannah is located in the southeastern corner of the Kaaba from the outside.
As per the history, the stone was brought from paradise by angel Hazrat Gibriel (AS) and it was presented to Prophet Ibrahim (AS) who placed it in the Ka’aba.
The stone was in one piece and is estimated to be about 110 cm when it was placed by Prophet Mohammed (SAWW) in the Ka’aba.
The stone was fractured into small pieces after it was seized by Qarmatians (a branch of Ismaili Shia) in 339 AH. It was taken to Iraq by Qaramatians.
