Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccine was given emergency approval by Britain on Wednesday. First in the western world, UK announced mass immunisation from next week.
According to health officials, the new vaccine has offered up to 96% protection against Covid-19 disease which has claimed almost 1.4 million lives around the globe.
Pfizer, a U.S. pharmaceutical company, and BioNTech, a German firm have been credited with this key development during a global pandemic. It took them 10 months to prepare the vaccine.
Earlier, Russia and China have also approved vaccines but their efficacy on larger-scale has been a subject of debate in the scientific community.
Health experts have warned people to keep following all precautionary measures regarding the spread of the virus which is still very important despite of the fact that vaccination can produce desired results.
