UK Conservative Party MPs urge Modi to end lockdown in occupied Jammu, Kashmir
LONDON: Conservative Party at a Kashmir Conference in London has called upon the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to end lockdown and atrocities in the Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing the conference, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President, Sardar Masood Khan said that India, under Modi’s fascist philosophy, was beating the war drums while Pakistan was showing patience.
He maintained that Pakistan and Kashmiris wanted a peaceful and lasting solution of the Kashmir dispute as per the United Nations resolutions, global agreements and Indian commitments.
He said, if Britain played an effective role as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, a breakthrough could be achieved regarding the settlement of the Kashmir dispute.
Prime Minister Imran Khan had on Feb 5 said unprecedented length of restrictions imposed in occupied Jammu and Kashmir had exposed the ‘fiction’ of India’s democracy and its scant regard for basic human norms.
“Today, we observe the Kashmir Solidarity Day to reaffirm our unflinching support for our Kashmiri brothers and sisters who have been subjected to an inhuman lockdown and communications blockade for six months now,” PM Imran Khan had said in his message on the Kashmir Solidarity Day.
He had said the Kashmiris, the Muslim Ummah, Pakistan and the international community had rejected India’s travesty of law and justice. India had turned 8 million Kashmiris into prisoners in their own land through the deployment of over 900,000 occupation troops, he maintained.
“History has few precedents of such suffocation and violation of the fundamental rights at this scale. Tens of thousands of innocent people have been arbitrarily detained and thousands of young boys abducted and incarcerated at undisclosed locations. This is a true manifestation of Indian stat-terrorism,” he had said.
