PESHAWAR: Two sisters belonging to Peshawar have established first women production house in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The sisters, Sundas Shah and Kiran Shah have broken the stereotype by setting up a production house ‘Sundas Shah Photography and Films’. They are working in the field of photography for more than four years. The entire system of the production house is managed by women only as purdah is strictly observed in Pashtoon society. Women manage photography, video shooting, drone operating and other matters for which they are provided training.
The duo sisters adeptly handle photography, baby shoot, wending shoot, portfolio, short films, feature films and editing. They said that it was not less than a challenge for them initially, however by the passage of time they earned praise for their work.
Kiran Shah works in PR and marketing of photography and films, while her sister is creative manager and lead photographer. Sundus Shah has in the past worked for different projects including one of Khaleej Times magazine.
The sisters said there was a huge gap of demand and supply of female photographers in the market as they needed privacy and other special arrangements for them.
“We built our reputation and entire crew comprising women who are able to make team video and post production work now. We are introducing new features which includes concept shoot and social issues to cast good effect on society,” they said.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa women are now moving towards technology. Big gadgets, cameras, cranes, drones are all working. Sundus Shah has also done wedding shoots for Lahore, Multan, Dubai, Oman and Khaleej Times. The message to the women of the two sisters is that whenever a new trend comes, bring yourself forward. ۔ We want to bring women to videography and editing so that not only our business grows but also technology becomes a commonplace in KP.
