Two IBA students harassed by Karachi University staffers’ sons: security adviser
Karachi University is investigating the harassment of two IBA students that happened on October 5. It has been revealed that the sons of a member of the staff are involved in it.
At around 11:30 pm, a student, Shaheer Ali, dropped his female friend and was coming back to the IBA hostel at the varsity with another female friend. Suddenly, 10 young men on four motorcycles surrounded them and began to follow them.
After that, they tried to stop the car and told the girl to come out of the car. They pounded on the windows, screaming for the girl to get out.
Ali accelerated the car’s speed and drove to the main gate where guards are stationed. He had also written about the incident in a social media post.
Police said that they are letting the varsity investigate the matter internally which is headed by Security adviser Dr. Moiz Khan. the reason is that no one from the administration had approached them.
Khan said that they have identified the 10 men involved in the incident. “They are all minors and the sons of staff members of the varsity and are currently being investigated,” he said.
Khan also confirmed that they have not handed over the matter to the police. We will investigate the matter and act according to the law, he vowed.
IBA Spokesperson Haris Tohid Siddiqui has confirmed the incident and said that the matter is forwarded to the Karachi University. The investigation will be done by KU security and the Rangers, and we will be following up on it because the incident did not occur on IBA premises.
