Twitter’s founder first ever tweet sold for $2.9 million
Jack Dorsey, the co-founder and the current CEO of Twitter, has sold his first ever tweet for over $2.9 million that he posted in 2006.
“Just setting up my twttr,” Jack’s tweet said as it was the first post on the social networking site.
Twitter was founded on March 21, 2006, some 15 years ago. According to media reports, the tweet was sold as nonfungible token or NFT.
An NFT is a unique digital asset like a piece of art, video, or audio. that can be bought and sold, just like physical assets.
Furthermore, the tweet was purchased by a Malaysian named Sina Estavi. According to his LinkedIn profile, Estavi is the CEO of blockchain company Bridge Oracle.
According to Estavi, the tweet is an important part of human history in the form of digital asset. “No one knows after 50 years what will be the value of first tweet of human history,” said Estavi as he compared the tweet Leonardo Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa.
