Twitterites demand arrest of ex-MPA Majeed Achakzai
QUETTA: Leader of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party and former member of Balochistan Assembly Majeed Achkazai was exonerated by a local court of Quetta in the murder case of a traffic police official Ataullah for lack of evidence.
Judge Mohammad Mandokhail announced the court verdict on Friday.
In June 2017, Ataullah was killed in a hit and run incident. The incident was highlighted and a case was registered against Achakzai after a surveillance camera footage of the incident went viral. The big vehicle of the MNA can be seen being driven crazily as it hits the traffic sergeant.
People are sharing pictures of the MNA driving the same vehicle in damaged condition after the accident. They took to Twitter and demanded justice for the deceased and arrest of the influential political leader.
“He has gone scot free despite more than adequate evidence. Our judicial system is helpless before high and mighty,” wrote Lt Gen (retd) M Haroon Aslam.
Dr Bismeen Jadoon said, “Driving with such speed on crossing is an ‘intent’ to harm. In Europe and USA, such death due to dangerous driving is a statuary offence. A person convicted of causing death by dangerous driving is liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding fourteen years.”
