ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri on Sunday barred the members of the House from calling Imran Khan ‘a selected Prime Minister’.
Federal Minister Omar Ayub Khan had requested the deputy speaker to ban the word ‘selected prime minister’ for the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. He had said calling PM Imran Khan selected was breach of privilege of the House.
In response to the ban, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday said the ban was imposed because of the PM’s ego. He said the ruling party was further fuelling the fire. He said it was weird to see the government ban one word in the assembly.
Twitteriites have reacted to the skirmish between the government and the opposition in a hilarious way. Some are supporting PM Khan and others are taunting him for imposing the unprecedented ban. Hence, pushing hashtags #PMisElected and #SelectedPM to top trends of Pakistan. Some tweets are so sarcastic that you will break into fit of laughter.
