Twitter to increase character limit from 280 to 4000, confirms Elon Musk

Twitter will eventually increase its character limit from the current 280 to 4,000, the company’s new CEO Elon Musk confirmed on Twitter.
In reply to a question whether rumored plans for Twitter to increase the character limit to 4,000 were true, Musk responded “Yes,” without providing additional information.
Twitter originally had a character limit of 140 before it was increased to 280 in 2017.
Users have to add multiple tweets in a single thread for extended content.
A tweet on November 27 said that Twitter 2.0 should increase the word count from 280 to 420.
Responding to this tweet, Elon Musk replied this is a good idea.
Earlier, Elon Musk announced that the micro-blogging site will soon delete nearly 1.5 billion inactive accounts.
In a tweet, Elon Musk said: “Twitter will soon start freeing the name space of 1.5 billion accounts.”
He added that accounts that have not been logged in and tweeted for years will be deleted.
“These are obvious account deletions with no tweets & no log in for years,” he said.
