The incumbent US President, Donald Trump saw a decline in his Twitter following after 2020 US presidential race. Meanwhile the newly elected President, Joe Biden’s official account witnessed a surge in popularity.
According to the news article published on Monday in The Guardian: ”President has lost 133,902 followers since 17 November as president-elect has gained 1,156,610”. The website Factbase was credited with tracking the information.
Trump has always remained famous for his furious and frustrated reactions on Twitter. When the results of the presidential election came out, Trump took Twitter by storm claiming elections as fraud while rejecting the victory of his opponent Joe Biden. However Trump later agreed to formally transfer the power.
Currently Joe Biden has 20.2 million followers on Twitter while Donald Trump has 88.8 million followers. The newly elected President is supposed to assume office officially from 20 January, 2021. Joe Biden has taken a relatively sane approach on Twitter by offering reconciliation to his opponent.
