Tropical cyclone 700 km away from Karachi: Met Dept

KARACHI: The tropical cyclone Vayu was 700 kilometer away from Karachi, the Meteorological Department said issuing alert on Wednesday.
The spokesperson for the Met Department Sardar Sarfraz said that the cyclone formed in Arabian Sea had converted in category one, Radio Pakistan reported.
However, he clarified that, currently no area of Pakistan coastline was under threat.
“Isolated heavy rain is expected with dust thunderstorm in three districts of Sindh — Tharparkar, Badin and Thatta — from Thursday,” he said.
The Met Department has predicted that Karachi may continue to face heatwave situation in upcoming days.
Meanwhile, Vayu cyclonic storm is also expected to hit the coastal towns of Porbandar, Mahua, Veraval and the Union Territory of Diu in India tomorrow.
