CHAGAI: Due to the closure of Pak-Iran crossing point or trade gate ‘Zero Point’ for nearly five months, the residents of Taftan started protesting and blocked traffic at national highway, border authorities informed.
Traders and representatives from political parties have also announced their support to the locals. According to our sources, most of the people in the town have been affected by the prolonged closure as they are suffering from unemployment.
Zero point gate is known for trading between Pakistan and Iran with which majority of the locals are associated. Although Pakistani authorities have asked Iran multiple times to restore trading.
Without having any hope, the locals have engaged themselves in protest and blocked the Pak-Iran national highway for traffic.
