‘Top Gun: Maverick’ becomes Tom Cruise’s first billion-dollar movie in his four-decade career
Top Gun: Maverick has officially surpassed $1 billion at the worldwide box office that makes it the first $1 billion-grossing movie of Tom Cruise’s four-decade career.
Tom Cruise’s career spans more than four decades, but now, for the first time, one of his films has crossed the $1 billion mark.
Released on May 27, the film grossed $521.7 million in North America and $484.7 million in other countries.
It is the second film to win the mark since the corona virus outbreak, before Spider-Man: No Way Home became the first film to earn $1 billion.
‘Top Gun: Maverick’ is a sequel to the 1986 film Top Gun, in which Tom Cruise reprises the famed role of Pete “Maverick” Mitchell.
Earlier, Tom Cruise’s highest grossing film was Mission Impossible Fallout 2018, which grossed more than $790 million.
