KARACHI: The Supreme Court on Tuesday rebuked the K-Electric over failure to provide uninterrupted electricity supply while the metropolis is experiencing heatwave.
Hearing a suo moto case, Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed shed light on woes of Karachiites amid hot weather. He said the people could not sleep all night because of frequent loadshedding.
He said nothing had changed after so many years and the power distribution company had the same old excuse for carrying out power cuts.

The top judge said that if he chief executive officer of the KE was loyal to the country then he would have done something to improve the situation.
He said the federal government had also failed to resolve the issue, instead they were working in connivance with each other.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert for Karachi and said that it would continue till this weekend.
Hospitals and civic administrations have been informed about the situation and the health centres have been asked to designate a ward to deal with heatwave affected patients.
The met department has asked people to cover their heads when out of house, try to avoid direct sunlight, stay hydrated and keep children indoors.
