KARACHI: The Tehreek e Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) has announced Allama Khadim Hussain Rizvi’s son, Hafiz Saad Rizvi, as his successor.
The announcement in this regard was made on the occasion of the funeral prayer of Khadim Rizvi at Minar e Pakistan. Saad Rizvi has taken oath as chief of the TLP. Earlier he had served as the deputy general secretary of the TLP.
“We will not tolerate a person convicted of blasphemy at any cost. I will continue the mission of my father acting on his advice,” he said.
It should be noted that the TLP entered in the country’s politics during the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N)’s government, specially after Mumtaz Qadri was executed. The party workers held protests at Faizabad in Rawalpindi against the court order and the government for giving a safe passage to Asia Bibi.
Later, the TLP emerged as the country’s largest religious party in the 2018 general elections.
It may be recalled that last week the TLP also staged sit-in protest to Islamabad and demanded from the government that the French ambassador should be deported. They had successful talks with the government in which the government assured that the French ambassador will be deported after legislation by the Senate.
