Tigress dies after fighting with tiger at Peshawar zoo

PESHAWAR: A tigress has succumbed to its wounds after fighting with a tiger at the Peshawar zoo.

Project Director Peshawar Zoo Ishtiaq Armar said they fought a couple of days ago which left the tigress critically wounded. He said liver of the tigress was hurt which resulted in internal bleeding. It was administered injection as well, but it could not survive, he said.

The project director said that it got difficult for the zoo administration to untangle them when they were fighting.  

The forest minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has convened a meeting over death of the tigress in which the zoo administration officials and doctors are summoned.

Ishtiaq said that the meeting was convened to know reasons of death of the animal and how to prevent such incidents in the future.
