The danger of dengue virus increases in Punjab

Dangers of dengue virus are increasing in Punjab. The Dengue Expert Advisory Group expressed serious concerns over the readiness of the Punjab Health Department.
Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Faisalabad and Multan have been declared as hotspots for dengue due to possible dangers of dengue mosquito.
The Expert Advisory Group has expressed dissatisfaction with the Department of Primary and Secondary Health’s preparations for dengue prevention.
It was informed in the meeting of the advisory group that the health department has not trained the doctors in the cities with possible hotspots. Dengue cases are being reported in the province but the actual statistics are not being disclosed by the health department.
According to officials, the number of dengue larvae is increasing dangerously due to humidity and rains in the air. On the other hand, the performance of the health department including the Punjab Health Care Commission for its prevention and treatment is still zero
