“That one tweet changed my entire life, I lost contracts worth millions of rupees”: Ali Zafar

Singer and actor Ali Zafar recently appeared on The Talk Talk Show and talked about an alleged case of harassment against him.

Ali Zafar said, “It all started when I was offered a big multinational company project. Soon after, a character assassination campaign started against me on social media”.

“That one tweet changed my entire life and ruined all my contracts. After that, I filed a defamation case but now it’s been 5 years and I am waiting for the verdict which is pending because the lady [Meesha Shafi] is not appearing in court”.

Sharing this because I believe that by speaking out about my own experience of sexual harassment, I will break the culture of silence that permeates through our society. It is not easy to speak out.. but it is harder to stay silent. My conscience will not allow it anymore #MeToo pic.twitter.com/iwex7e1NLZ

While talking about the difficulties the singer has to face after the accusations of harassment, Ali said, “My losses can’t be stated in words, I lost contracts worth millions of rupees and they all are documented”.

“For two to three years, I sat at home but I thanked my Allah for this too, after this thing, I even love the people who brought sorrow in my life because they taught me a lot”.

Ali Zafar further opened up about feeling zero in his life when he was informed that he was being given a very prestigious award but his name was excluded from the list because some people forced the management to do so.
