Tharparkar: Hundreds of peacocks die due to mysterious disease

More than 100 peacocks have died due to a mysterious disease in, Tharparkar Desert. said media reports.

According to wildlife department, they are unable to identify the actual cause of peacocks deaths and illness.

Moreover, the peacocks reportedly died due to swollen neck and malnutrition.

Geo News reported that more than 100 peacocks had died in over 10 villages of Mithi, Islamkot, and Diplo tehsils in Tharparkar.

The report also added that over two dozen peacocks were suffering from the disease presently.

According to the Sindh poultry department, peacocks have a disease called ‘Rani Khait’.

However, the peacocks are given multi-vitamins and anti-biotics as a precautionary measure.
