Terrorism provisions have also been added to the kidnapping case of senior journalist Matiullah Jan.

A report on the case of senior journalist Matiullah Jan, who was abducted in broad daylight in Islamabad on July 21, has been submitted to the Supreme Court.

According to the report, terrorism provisions have also been included in the case. A committee headed by DIG Operation is investigating the kidnapping case. The report also said that it has applied to the concerned agencies for assistance in the case, while it has also applied in writing for the acquisition of CCTV and mobile CDRs.

The report submitted said that a letter has also been written to NADRA officials to identify Zark Khan. No response has been received from any organization so far. Evidence has been gathered from the return of Matiullah Jan. Further investigations will be possible after the response of the concerned agencies.

It may be recalled that a three-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed directed the Islamabad Police to record the statement of Matiullah Jan, a senior journalist who was allegedly abducted and then recovered, and a comprehensive report on the matter.

On Tuesday morning, July 21, Matiullah Jan was abducted by gunmen outside his wife’s school in Islamabad’s Sector G6, but returned home 12 hours after the abduction.
