ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has asked tax payers to provide all required information about their expenditures in tax returns.
In a statement, the FBR spokesman asked tax filers to fill details about water expenditures in the column bearing water code number 7059.
The government has repudiated the report published on a local newspaper website about the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR)’s allegedly missing August revenue collection target by Rs50bn.
The ruling party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on its official Twitter account tweeted that the percentage scales in the news of Dawn.com were grossly misleading.
According to the website, the FBR had missed the revenue collection target for August by Rs50 billion, despite introducing several revenue and administrative measures in the last budget.
On the other hand, FBR Chairman Syed Shabbar Zaidi has said that despite 8 to 10 non-working days in August, about 90% of FBR’s target had been achieved.
“Alhamdulillah, FBR collection in this month is 297.4B despite 8-10 non-working days. So far, FBR’s target for FY2019-20 has been achieved to the extent of 90%. 580 billion against the target of 644 billion,” he tweeted. The website had in a chart shown that the FBR had missed the target by more than 50 percent.
On June 21, the FBR had introduced the online tax profiling system, which would enable people to check details of their assets.
Talking to media in Islamabad, Shabbar Zaidi had said people could check their tax profile after paying Rs500 fee every time. He said the online application was launched for inquiry of assets.
