Taliban seize Indian consulate in Kandahar
KABUL: Taliban have seized Indian consulate in the Afghan city of Kandahar on Monday.
According to media reports, the Taliban seized the Indian consulate in Kandahar, the video of which has also been released by the militants, while in the video, the Taliban can be seen going to different parts of the Indian consulate.
It should be noted that the Indian consulate in Kandahar has already been closed and India has also recalled its staff back following withdrawal of NATO forces from the country. In this regard, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs had said that the return of staff was a temporary measure until the situation improved while local staff at the Kandahar Consulate would continue to work.
On the other hand, three civilians have been killed and six others wounded in a roadside bomb blast in Helmand, Afghanistan. No group has claimed responsibility for the blast.
Meanwhile, Reuters news agency has reported that the United States general Austin Miller leading the war in Afghanistan, will relinquish command today in a symbolic end to America’s longest conflict.
