T20 World Cup shifted from India to UAE

As per local media reports, India is planning to host T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates and Oman due to coronavirus situation in the neighbouring country.
The big event will start on October 17 and its final will be played on November 24 this year. 16 teams will vie for the trophy.
The 2021 T20 World Cup was earlier scheduled to be held in India but the decision has been reversed.

The Cricinfo website reported that the tournament will start after the final of the Indian Premier League 2021, which is on October 15. Like the World Cup, the IPL will also be held in the UAE. It is going to start on September 19.
Albeit, the BCCI has not officially written to the ICC about organising the T20 World Cup in the UAE. Nevertheless, preparations have been started to get it done. According to the current plan, there will be two groups in the T20 World Cup and it will be played in UAE and Oman.
Round 1 will consist of 12 matches and will be played between eight teams. These teams will be in two groups and two teams each will qualify for Super 12. Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, Namibia, Oman, Papua New Guinea will play in this round. These matches are to be played in Oman. There will be a total of 30 matches in Super 12. They are likely to start from October 24. Here 12 teams will be divided into two groups. Their matches will be played in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. After this two semi-finals and final matches will be played.
At the same time, the BCCI has told the ICC that it would inform about its final decision regarding the venue before July 28. Earlier, the BCCI had selected nine places in India to organise the tournament.
