Suspects in Baldia factory incident change their statements

KARACHI: Primary suspects Abdul Rehman and Zubair changed their statements in the Baldia Factory fire case in which more than 250 people were burned to death.

According to details, during the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) hearing, Abdul Rehman and Zubair changed their statements.

Responding to a questionnaire composed of 380 questions, Abdul Rehman admitted that at the time of the tragedy he was in charge of the MQM Baldia sector but was not involved in setting the fire.

Meanwhile, court heard a petition claiming victims’ families were not paid Rs 560 million despite announcements and the survivors’ pension was also discontinued.

The tribunal sought Secretary EOBI’s response and adjourned the hearing until February 19.
