ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has issued a notice to Prime Minister Imran Khan for participating in a gathering of lawyers at Convention Centre.
The apex court has also issued notices to the attorney general, advocate general of Punjab, in-charge convention centre and the relevant ministries.
The top court has submitted a court order to the chief justice for formation of a bench on the matter.
SC Judge Justice Qazi Faez Isa asked from the prime minister that why he was misusing the state resources. This is a matter of basic right and interpretation of the constitution, he said. Apparently, the PM participated in the event in personal capacity.
Justice Qazi Faez Isa said that the premier could not side with a particular group, however his participation in the event showed his support for one group.
He also asked the incharge convention centre to apprise how payment for the expenditures was made. The PM participated in the event in personal capacity, while he was PM of all the country and his status was big. “The situation would have been different for the court, if the event was held at a private hotel,” he said.
The SC judge said queried that how advocate general of Punjab could involve in such activities while being on such a post.
