ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has granted bail to Pakistani media mogul Mir Shakil ur Rehman and directed him to submit a bond worth Rs100 million and his passport to the court.
The hearing was conducted by a three-member bench headed by Justice Mushir Alam. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had kept him in custody for about seven months in a reference pertaining to a land that was bought 34 years ago.
Counsel of the Jang Group of Newspapers’ owner apprised the top court that the allotment of the land to Mir Shakil caused no loss to the national exchequer. Amjad Pervaiz said just his client was being targeted while the case mentioned names of three other people as well.
The court was relayed that the NAB did not mention about any loss to the national exchequer as a result of ownership of the land by the media mogul.
